The Safer PVC Horse Fence: Value Fencing® Technical Guide to Equestrian Post & Rail Systems.
Description
Value Fencing® PVC equestrian post-and-rail fencing is a ranch-style system in low-maintenance PVC, specified with horse-safety behaviour in mind. This technical guide covers the system that uses 102 × 102 mm posts and 76 × 76 mm square rails.
It sets out design principles, dimensions, post spacing, CNC-cut rail slots, concrete installation, fence-height options, rail configurations, gate planning, and typical uses on paddocks, arenas, stable yards, equestrian estates and ranch-style properties.
Safety-release rails vs reinforced rails
The standard configuration uses hollow rails intended to disengage or unclip from the posts in certain severe horse impacts, so the horse is less likely to be trapped against a fully rigid rail.
Where more rigidity is required, rails may be filled with rebar and 25–30 MPa concrete. That option changes the intended impact-release behaviour and should be specified deliberately, not mixed by accident.
The guide is for horse owners, equestrian estate managers, stable operators, developers, architects, contractors and property professionals specifying or installing this system in South African conditions. Use Download PDF or View PDF above.
