PVC posts are filled with steel-reinforced concrete for stability and set in concrete foundations.

DIY Installation

PVC fencing from Value Fencing is also ideal for DIY enthusiasts who want to install their own fences. Here's how you can do it:

  • Planning: Start by planning the layout of your fence. Measure the area to determine how much fencing you will need. Remember that our Value DIY PVC Range fence sections are 1900mm wide (Post centers) and Balustardrs are 1150mm wide. These can be trimmed down to your requirements on site.
  • *Make sure to account for gates and any changes in elevation.
  • Materials: Purchase the necessary PVC fencing materials, including panels, posts, brackets, caps, decorative foot pieces, and gates. (Remember gates posts and accessories such as hinges & latches) Ensure you have all required tools like a level, spade, builders fish line, tape measure, post level, white rubber mallet and a MItre saw or grinder.
  • *PS: You will additionally have to buy 42.5s cement, building sand and 13mm tone as well as steel rebar to affect the install. This will be determined by the posts selected.
  • Site Preparation: Clear the installation area of any obstacles or debris and level as best possible. Mark the positions of the fence posts using stakes and string to ensure a straight line.
  • Post Installation: Dig holes for the fence posts, ensuring they are deep enough for stability (minimum 600mm for 1,2m high fence or 850mm for 1,8m high fences or screns). Place posts and fit bottom rails. Ensure each each rail is level before securing it in place. Set the posts in concrete, making sure they are level and plumb. Allow the concrete to set according to the manufacturer's instructions. Fill posts with concrete ensuring enough 13mm stones are used. Drop min 2x rebar stakes in each post and fill up to 2/3rds ensuring a rubber Mallet is used to ensure concrete settles in properly. No check levels again.
  • Panel Installation: Once the posts are set, attach the fence panels to the posts using brackets.
  • Finishing Touches: Install any additional components, such as gates or decorative elements. Double-check all connections and make any necessary adjustments to ensure the fence is secure and aesthetically pleasing.

Maintenance Tips

While PVC fencing requires little maintenance, the following tips will help keep it looking its best:

Regular Cleaning: Wash your fence with mild detergent (Domestos or Kleen Green) and water to remove dirt and grime. For stubborn stains or fine scratches, use Value Fencing's CLEAN PRO polish with a soft cloth. For deeper scratches, first use 1000 and then 1200 gritt sandpaper prior to polish.

Cost of PVC Fencing

PVC fencing is generally more affordable than wood or metal fencing in the long run and can last for decades with proper care. The cost varies depending on the type, height, site elevations, project size, and labor. Due to fluctuating prices, it's advisable to get a quote when you are ready to proceed.
