FAQs:

Q: How deep should I dig the post holes?

A: The depth of the holes will depend on the height of your fence. As a general rule in the industry, you should dig holes that are one-third the height of your fence, but we at Value Fencing dig ours 1/2 of the fence height deep to ensure stability, especially in soft soil or beachfront properties.

EG: If your fence is 1,2m high, the post should be planted 600mm minimum into soil and for 1,8m high fence, post should be planted 900mm deep.

Q: How long does installation take?

A: Installation time will vary depending on the size and complexity of your fence. You should easily install 7 to 10 fence posts a day, but trained professionals can do double or even triple that amount. On average, it can take anywhere from a few days to a week to complete the installation.

Q: Do i concrete my PVC fence posts?

A: Yes, the complete hole should be filled with a 25MPA or stronger mix. Do not back-fill with soil and crown the top 10cm as done by contractors taking short-cuts)

Q: Should i also fill my PVC fence posts with anything? I note some suppliers leave their posts empty.

A: Although some suppliers may brag that their product does not require any filling, it actually does require filling with 25 to 30MPA concrete mix together with 2x steel reinforcing rods per post for structural integrity. Unfilled posts, no matter who supplied them will be wobbly, period.

Q: How far should PVC fence posts be filled?

A: We suggest to fill around 2/3 from ground level. Filling too little with not be sturdy enough and filling too high will make higher fences top heavy.
