PVC Fencing Scams & Fraudsters at work in the KZN area on Facebook marketplace.

We recently caught out a syndicate of foreign nationals with workers inside legit PVC fencing Companies who stole materials and offered it at extremely cheap prices to unsuspecting Customers.

They had their inside men steal stock and then advertised on Facebook Market Place for installation of PVC fencing & Balustrades.

Many Clients were caught out who felt sorry for "the small guy" trying to "make a living".

These Clients lost lots of money and now sit with awfully expensive holes as only holes were dug and no material ever delivered or installed.

In some cases, full installation was done with these stolen materials. We urge any Clients who received their materials or installations to please come forward to assist in the case, failing which will be aiding and abetting Criminals as buying stolen product is a criminal offence.

Police van loads of materials were recovered (see inserted photo) from some perpetrator's houses, but a very large amount of material is still unaccounted for. These must have been sold already.

Client should know that these conmen cannot buy these materials and resell to anyone. The DIY ranges available cost more for materials Only than these fraudsters advertise their fully installed "product".

FACT: There are ONLY 3x Companies importing PVC fencing materials into SA. They are: Value Fencing, Absolut fencing and Fendek only. No other "supplier" or Contractor imports PVC fencing material, period.

There is No way these guys can buy these materials anywhere else as none of the above supplies them. We do supply DIY ranges and supply Hardware stores, and Fendek do supply another "PVC Fencing Company" with material, but the prices it is sold for is far more than these fraudster's advertised prices. How can they make money selling at a loss?

Warning:

How to spot a Scam:

Spotting a scam or fraudulent advertisement on social media regarding PVC fencing and balustrade installers can be difficult, but there are a few red flags to look out for. Here are some tips to help you avoid falling victim to a scam:

Unusually low prices: If a contractor is offering prices that are significantly lower than their competitors', this could be a sign that they are cutting corners or using inferior materials.

No physical address or contact information: Legitimate contractors will typically have a physical address and contact information, such as a landline phone number and email address, listed on their website or social media profiles. If a contractor only provides a P.O. box or a cell phone number, it may be a sign that they are not a legitimate business.

No references or portfolio: A reputable contractor will be able to provide references or a portfolio of their previous work. If a contractor is not willing to provide this information, it may be a sign that they are not experienced or have poor work quality.

Pressure to make a quick decision: Scammers may try to pressure you into making a quick decision by offering limited-time deals or using high-pressure sales tactics.

Require full payment upfront: Legitimate contractors will typically require a deposit, but they won't ask for full payment upfront. Be wary of anyone who asks for full payment before any work has been done.

Lack of proper licenses, insurance, and certifications: Make sure the contractor is CIPRO registered and has all the necessary licenses, public liability insurance and certifications. Ask for proof and check if they are valid.

Reviews and testimonials are fake: Check the reviews and testimonials, if they are fake, or if they are not available, it could be a sign that the contractor is fraudulent.

By doing your research and being vigilant, you can help protect yourself from fraud and scams when hiring a PVC fencing and balustrade installer.

Cheaper is usually a RED FLAG:

Also note that the ONLY way to get things done cheaper (in any niche) is to take short-cuts and / or cut on material quality, which we refuse to do, no wonder Value Fencing is Top Rated as South Africa's #1 Best Contractor in the PVC fencing industry and one of the Best in the World.!
